ALM – A Research Forum

Adults Learning Mathematics is an international research forum which brings together practitioners and researchers from around the world who are involved in the mathematics education of adult learners at all levels.  The organisation through research and scholarly activity informs  international and national policy and practices to support all aspects of adult mathematics education. http://www.alm-online.net. 

An International conference is held annually in 2011 the conference was held in Institute of Technology Tallaght, Dublin 24, Ireland.  Linking in with the community initiative the theme of the conference was ‘Mathematical Eyes: A Bridge between Adults, the World and Mathematics’ The conference had contributions from 14 countries.  Participants  used their maths eyes to highlight current issues, opportunities and challenges for adults learning mathematics in:

  • The work environment
  • All levels of education
  • Improving public awareness and communication
  • Supporting active citizenship.
