Maths Eyes on Cork’s Northside – Shandon/North Cathedral/Blackpool HSCL Cluster

“Over the last number of years, our Shandon/North Cathedral/Blackpool HSCL Cluster has been involved in the Maths Eyes Project.
This project involves the local schools; Blarney St, North Pres, St Vincents, The North Mon Primary & Secondary and Gaelscoil Pheig Sayers. This year we decided to add a new twist to the project.  We were very much aware that there were over twenty languages spoken in our school, so with this in mind, decided to produce a booklet in as many languages as we could to reflect the wide diversity in our community.  We did so in the belief that a child, seeing his or her own language in use will feel an ownership of the project.  All the translations were done by either the children themselves or their parents.
This booklet and the posters developed from it will become part of the Maths resources in our school.”
